Downs Law Offices, P.C. Attorney Fall 2005-Present Practice limited to family law. Handled all aspects of domestic relations cases, working with clients from initial consultation to final resolution, as well as post decree and collections work.
Western Michigan Legal Services Law Clerk Summer 2004 Handled dissolution of marriage proceedings with allegations of domestic violence. Conducted multiple Personal Protection Order (Order of Protection) hearings. Represented clients in Section 8, removal proceedings.
Wayne County Prosecutors Office Intern in the Warrants’ Department Spring 2004 Conducted felony preliminary examinations (probable cause hearings), primarily involving narcotics, assault, and attempted murder cases.

Skills
I have a working knowledge of the Illinois Marriage and Dissolution of Marriage Act, the Illinois Supreme Court Rules, as well as the Illinois Code of Civil Procedure. I have successfully conducted Exclusive Possession hearings; Motions to Compel, Petitions for Rule to Show Cause, Petitions to Increase Support, Modification Hearings, and have conducted dozens of Prove Up proceedings. I conducted, (without assistance) a three-day dissolution of marriage trial with custody, visitation, real estate division, and personal property issues. I also have a working knowledge of collections law, and have conducted a Citation to Discover Assets proceeding and routinely garnish bank accounts and lien real property to collect judgments. I am Lexis, Westlaw and Fastcase Proficient. I have also taken a 40 hour facilitative mediation training course in Michigan.
